Dual Pole Connector + Jacks.
WEIGHT: 2.1 – 2.9 OZ | 60 – 82 GM

If you use your Duomid or SoloMid XL for two people, or you just like to have more space in your Mid, use these Dual Pole Connector + Jacks to lengthen and connect your trekking poles so you can set up your shelter using a wide inverted V instead of a single pole.

Available in aluminum or carbon fiber, these jacks fit most modern trekking pole tips. If you have larger than average tips on your trekking poles, we recommend using the aluminum jacks, as they have a slightly larger inner diameter. If your trekking pole tips are more slender (Ex: Black Diamond Distance Z’s), we recommend using the slightly smaller diameter Carbon Fiber Jacks. Popular poles styles, like Leki’s, will fit in either.

Pole Jacks can be cut down to be the shortest and lightest possible for your set up. Aluminum pole jacks can be cut with a pipe cutter or a fine tooth hacksaw. Carbon Fiber pole jacks can be cut with a fine blade tile saw or a very fine tooth hacksaw. Be sure to pre-warp the carbon fiber jacks tightly with tape before cutting. Finish both Aluminum and Carbon Fiber pole jacks by smoothing off the edges with fine sand paper.

NOTE: The Dual Pole Connector + Jack V Pole set ups will NOT work with the DuoMid XL or SuperMids as they are too large. We include a different pole connector strap with the purchase of those shelters.

USING THE DUAL POLE CONNECTOR + JACKS

1: Set both trekking poles to the desired length (it helps to remember this setting for future setups.)
2: Insert the sharp tips of the trekking poles into the jack tube ends. Using the small ski/dirt baskets on your trekking pole tips is recommended to help keep the jack stable on the pole tip and to prevent the pole from jamming down into the jack.
3: Insert the poles into the shelter.
4: Adjust the trekking pole length for tightness.
5: If desired, you can use the supplied line across the ground to clip the trekking pole handles together. Doing so will help keep the bottom of the poles from moving wider.
