The GoodNight EVA 1/8″ Evazote Foam Pad is the most versatile ultralight foam pad out there! Use it on its own for a super ultralight sleep pad, or stick it under your UL inflatable pad for added puncture protection and to boost your inflatables R-value. As a bonus, if your inflatable goes Kaflooy, you’ll have this pad as a backup to get you through the night! What else can it do? Use it as a non-slip surface under a SilNylon Bivy or sleeping pad, as a ground cloth, as a sit pad, as a gear sorting pad, or fold it and use it as a virtual frame in a frameless backpack.

The GoodNight EVA Foam Pad is made of Evazote® closed cell cross-linked ethylene copolymer foam. We use Evazote® foams, as they are tougher and more resilient than cheaper Plastazote foams. We use the lightest EVA available for a GoodNight! Note that all EVA foams of the same size and weight are the same.

NOTE: There is no way to make a certain weight and same size pad of EVA softer or stiffer. They are all the same. We are happy to have had stock of this critical hiker supply continually for over a year.

NOTE: Some pads may have small cosmetic imperfections or mailing crease marks. This is normal for all thin light foam pads. This does not affect performance. Small surface blemishes are normal and may occur during manufacture or shipping. Foam pads are not returnable.

* R VALUE: We conservatively estimate the R value at .4 . In real life field use, it depends on you system and you body weight comresssing the pad, the functional R Value may be higher. We estimate adding this thin 1/8″ pad under another sleep pad will add about 7-10 degrees extra comfort to the pad system. Example: Uninsulated inflatable UL pad good to 38 Degrees would then be good to about 30 degrees.

Looking for something a little thicker? Try our GoodNight EVA Hammock 1/4″ Foam Pad.

PRO FOAM TIP

Label one side as UP. Use Silver Sharpie. Always lay it with UP side UP. Keeps any small debis, pine needle tips, etc. that may stick to the foam away from your inflatable sleep pad. Fold in half before packing or rolling to keep the UP side clean. All thin foam of any type from any company should be protected from high heat. Temps above 120 degrees can cause shrinkage. Do not store in a hot car. Do not leave it unrolled on the ground in direct sun when actual ground temps on the dark foam or under a collapsed tent can go above 120 degrees. Shrinkage from hot temps is not covered by warranty.

MLD is the only company that always has these in stock, and offers so many sizes. Plus in my opinon theirs are a higher quality foam then competitors. Great pads at great rates! Thank you MLD!

Picked up one of these 1/8 inch pads a while back and just got a chance to try it in some cooler weather (in the 40s) with my double layer hammock.

I still had my underquilt but did not have it synched up.

The thin pad is a little difficult to position because it doesn’t have as much rigidity but it didn’t cause any issues when I was laying on it and it completely eliminated those cold spots that I always seem to get with an under quilt – even the super expensive custom made ones.

I took the pad out to test and the cold spots came back immediately.

I will be using one of these with my double layer for all future cold weather backpacking and will likely pick up the 1/4 inch version to test out as well.

This thing is a game changer for having a lightweight seat wherever you go. Works great paired with a log, rock, or stadium bleacher, but also works just fine on the ground, even in snow. I enjoy how it can be folded into any shape and also doubles as an extra layer of insulation under your sleep pad.

  4. Drew Boswell

Hands down probably my favorite, most versatile piece of gear for backpacking. I use it for a sit pad on breaks and as an adjunct to kill any cold spots when I’m sleeping in my hammock. Using this pad I’ve taken a 25 degree quilt down to 18 degrees. The light weight and packability means it’s not a burden and the price from MLD means it’s a terrific value.

  5. Nate Baker (verified owner)

I have been using the 40 X 80 inch pads to cover the floor of my floor-less winter shelter. They are much better than dcf, tyvek, or silnylon for this purpose and don’t weight all that much more. They do not stick/freeze to the snow and provide ample room for gear and layers to have a water proof place to sit. The pads do seem waterproof, at least in cold conditions. As a test, I made the pads into a cone shape and filled them with some water for twelve hours, nothing leaked through.

The pads are incredibly light and, on my scale, weight in as advertised. I think it would be useful for snowless use also, as a groundsheet, pad protector, or a sleeping pad for the seasoned ground sleeper.
